Amit is a Director of engineering at Docker, working on the Docker Swarm container orchestration system. He has held leadership roles at Twitter, leading the data infrastructure team, and at Microsoft's SQL Server database engine. During his time in the industry he has worked on various data storage systems, from transactions and recovery to query processing, object relational mapping, and loosely coupled distributed storage, caching and processing systems. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin with a focus on databases.

Karthik is the engineering manager and technical lead for Real Time Analytics at Twitter. He is the co-creator of Heron and has more than two decades of experience working in parallel databases, big data infrastructure and networking. He cofounded Locomatix, a company that specializes in real time streaming processing on Hadoop and Cassandra using SQL that was acquired by Twitter. At the University of Wisconsin, he worked extensively in parallel database systems, query processing, storage engine and online analytical systems. This research was spun as a company later acquired by Teradata. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UW Madison with a focus on databases.
